Why I Stopped Chasing Goals And Started Living
✨ Motivation doesn’t have to be tied to hustle, checklists, or chasing milestones. Real growth comes when we finally stop striving for “someday” and start living for right now.
If you’ve ever found yourself waiting for the perfect moment to slow down, I’ve got news for you: that moment is never coming. The truth is, life doesn’t pause for us to catch up. It keeps moving—whether we’re chasing, hustling, or choosing to embrace it as it is.
This is the story of why I stopped chasing goals and started living with intention.

Letting Go of Perfection
For years, I thought reaching the next milestone would finally bring peace—finishing the to-do list, reaching the “right” stage, waiting for life to calm down. But here’s the spoiler: it never really does.
Shifting my focus wasn’t about giving up—it was about letting go. I had to release the idea that everything needed to be perfect before I could enjoy it. Life is always a little messy, a little chaotic, and a little unpredictable. And honestly, that’s where the joy is found.
Finding Joy in the Journey
The reality is, if you’re always waiting for the “right time,” you’ll miss the magic that’s already here.
Instead of white-knuckling through hard days, I’m learning to notice the tiny good moments:
-
A laugh shared with my kids during a homeschool day.
-
A cozy dinner in the middle of a stressful week.
-
The relief of knowing I don’t have to do it all to enjoy where I am.
These are the things that matter—not the goalposts we keep sprinting toward.
Life Updates That Taught Me This Lesson
Life has been chaotic lately. From broken air conditioning in the middle of a Texas summer to upcoming surgery and a busy homeschool season ahead, things have been heavy.
But through it all, I keep coming back to this truth: life doesn’t wait for us to be ready.
I could waste energy wishing it were easier, or I can choose to find the magic in what is. Even when it’s inconvenient. Even when it’s uncomfortable. Even when it doesn’t look like I planned.

Living With Intention
Stopping the chase isn’t about losing motivation—it’s about changing it. My motivation now comes from presence, not pressure. From being here, not rushing ahead.
That means:
-
Celebrating small wins instead of waiting for big ones.
-
Choosing joy in the middle of hard days.
-
Letting go of the need to do it all perfectly.
-
Remembering that this moment, right here, is already worth living fully.
Why I Stopped Chasing Goals And Started Living
I believe all of us have the power to create joy in everyday life. Time is passing whether we like it or not—so why not embrace it?
The finish line isn’t the point. If you’re not enjoying the race, the victory won’t mean much.
So I’m choosing to live for right now. To find the good, be the good, and make everyday magic—even when things feel messy, imperfect, or uncertain.
And here’s the reminder I hope you take with you: don’t wait for life to calm down. Start living today.

Final Thoughts
Whether you’re a homeschool parent, a busy professional, or just a fellow human trying to juggle it all, I hope this encourages you to pause, breathe, and find the joy right where you are.
