Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been homeschooling for years, these websites can help you build an amazing personalized homeschool plan without spending a dime.
I’m incredibly passionate about cost never being a barrier to homeschool. While I can’t control grocery prices or work schedules, I can help you find high-quality educational materials that are easy to access and totally free.
So today, I’m sharing my top free resources. These are the exact sites I use when I need a new lesson, supplement, or even a full curriculum.

YouTube

You probably already know this one, but YouTube is an absolute goldmine. You can find full lessons, science experiments, virtual field trips, and even lectures from top universities. From Crash Course to science channels for kids, you can literally learn about anything for free.
Alison

This one is new to me, and it’s awesome. Alison offers free online courses in everything from Spanish to engineering to teaching and personal development. You can even earn a free digital certificate. Perfect for middle school and high school learners who want to explore new subjects or career paths.
Cursa

Another new favorite! Cursa offers tons of free video courses on topics like art, design, and business. Just download the app, pick a topic, and start learning. You’ll even earn a free certificate at the end of each course.
Khan Academy

If you’ve been homeschooling for any amount of time, you’ve probably heard of Khan Academy. It’s a powerhouse of free lessons covering math, science, economics, language arts, and more. They even have SAT prep, AP courses, and life skills.
Core Knowledge Foundation

Core Knowledge offers complete K–12 curriculum for free. You can download entire textbooks and teacher guides covering language arts, history, science, and more. It’s a fantastic, structured resource that’s fully secular and easy to use.
OpenLearning

OpenLearning is another excellent option for older students. You’ll find tons of free courses from universities and organizations around the world. Explore topics like supply chain management, psychology, or even creative arts.
CK-12 Foundation

CK-12 (and its AI helper, Flexi) is one of my go-to resources. You can access free digital textbooks, lessons, practice problems, and videos. It covers everything from trigonometry to biology, and the Flexi chatbot helps explain concepts step-by-step.
OpenStax

OpenStax provides college-level textbooks for free online. You can read them digitally or download PDFs. It’s an incredible resource for high school and advanced learners looking for real, in-depth materials.
OER Commons

OER Commons is an open education resource library filled with free lessons, activities, and full courses. You can filter by grade level and subject to find exactly what you need. It’s perfect for project-based learning or filling gaps in your curriculum.
OER Project

If you’ve never used the OER Project, you are missing out. We’ve used their Big History Project, which combines science and history in such a cool way. They also offer climate change and AP-aligned courses with full teacher support.
Crash Course

Crash Course is a homeschool staple in our house. These short, high-energy videos cover everything from world history to psychology. I love pairing them with low-cost guided notes from Teachers Pay Teachers to round out the lessons.
Middle School Chemistry (ACS)

Created by the American Chemical Society, this is a complete middle school chemistry program. It includes lessons, labs, and teacher guides—all free. We used it and absolutely loved it.
Saylor Academy

Saylor offers free online college-level courses with optional certificates. You can find courses in art, humanities, English, and science. Each course includes a full syllabus and assessments.
Georgia Virtual Learning

Even if you don’t live in Georgia, you can access their free online curriculum. It includes everything from AP Calculus to fine arts electives. All of it is free and easy to use for high school homeschoolers.
Coursera

Coursera partners with major universities to offer online courses. While not all courses are free anymore, many still are. You can audit classes from top schools like Stanford and Yale at no cost—just be sure to select the “audit for free” option when enrolling.
