We are in full-on tackling family projects mode! After a decade in one home, we’ve made a big move—downsizing, reorganizing, and making this new space work for us. That means lots of DIY, creative storage solutions, and of course, a little hands-on science fun with MEL Science!

Tackling Family Projects in a New Space
If you’ve been here a while, you know we love a good family project. And let’s be honest, there’s no better time to dive in than when you’re trying to get settled in a new home. With less built-in storage and some major furniture upgrades needed, we’ve been tackling family projects left and right.
Here’s what we’ve been working on:
- Bathroom storage: No cabinets? No problem! We’re assembling bathroom towers to make the most of our space.
- IKEA furniture build-a-thon: Dressers, shelves, and beds—our new space is a puzzle, and we’re finding the best pieces to fit.
- Combining the kids’ room: The girls are now sharing a space, so we’re getting creative with beds, storage, and organization.
- Garage overhaul: The goal? Two cars in a space that has barely fit one. It’s a challenge, but we’re making progress!
And of course, in the middle of all this chaos, we found the perfect time to break out a MEL Science kit.
MEL Science – A Hands-On Distraction (That’s Actually Educational!)
When you’re deep in furniture assembly mode, sometimes you need something fun (and quiet) for the kids. Enter MEL Science! What I loved:
✔️ Completely hands-on – They built a crank flashlight, experimented with different light sources, and learned about power generation.
✔️ No major prep – Everything (except basic supplies like scissors) was included.
✔️ Collaborative & engaging – The girls worked together, followed the instructions, and were totally invested in the project.
It was the perfect mix of education and entertainment—giving us some uninterrupted time to power through our never-ending list of tackling family projects.

Small Wins & Big Progress
Between DIY storage solutions, furniture assembly marathons, and a bit of fun with science, we’ve been making serious progress. Even small things, like a new spice rack for our smaller pantry and a better soap dispenser setup, have made a big difference.
The best part? Watching everything come together. The girls now have an organized bookshelf, their shared room is coming together, and we’ve reclaimed enough space in the garage to actually park. Win!
Tackling Family Projects – One Step at a Time
Moving into a new home is a process, and we’re taking it one project at a time. There’s still plenty left to do, but each little win gets us closer to feeling settled. Whether it’s building furniture, creating storage, or diving into hands-on learning with MEL Science, we’re making this space ours.
