How I Start My Day as a Homeschool Mom

Wake & Move

My mornings kick off around 5:45 with a little movement. Exercise helps me start my day energized, and by getting up early, I’m able to prepare for the day ahead in peace. Right after a quick workout, I tidy our spaces. Clear surfaces mean less clutter and stress, making it easier to keep up with our homeschool rhythm.

Morning Coffee Routine

I’m down to just two cups of coffee! I start with a “functional” cup and save a “decadent treat” for later. Cutting back on coffee has been great for my sleep and focus, while still giving me that cozy start I love.

Get Ready

Next up, I prep myself for the day. A quick hair and makeup session gives me a boost of confidence. Feeling ready and looking polished helps me approach my day with more focus, especially on days I leave the house or meet others. My routine is simple, usually only around 20 minutes. Full disclosure, hair is not happening daily!

Breakfast & Plans

A prepared breakfast (overnight oats!) keeps me fueled. Then, with coffee #2 in hand, I open up my planner to outline my goals. Working from home requires structure, so mapping out my day ensures that both homeschooling and business tasks are balanced.

Tackling Tasks

I’m also a fan of quick tasks! A two-minute chore here or there—like tidying the bathroom or wiping down counters—keeps things fresh. Completing even small tasks early lifts some of the mental load, allowing me to start our homeschool day with less on my mind. I try to check a box for self, home, chore, and work every morning before the day gets away from me.

Wrapping Up My Morning

By 9 a.m., my morning checklist is complete. I’ve moved my body, prepared my workspace, and enjoyed time for myself. With the kids now awake, we’re ready to start our homeschool day, with me feeling balanced and prepared for whatever comes next.
