I do have everything linked over on my Favorites Page.
Reading with All About Reading Level 4:
Our language arts journey begins with All About Reading Level 4. In our homeschool, I emphasize the significance of building a strong foundation in reading. All About Reading employs a phonogram approach, providing a multisensory learning experience. The program includes phonogram and word cards, engaging readers, and a comprehensive teacher guide. One notable feature is the absence of writing activities, making it ideal for learners who prefer a writing-free approach.
Quick Tip: For a more in-depth review, I have dedicated videos on the All About Reading and All About Spelling programs on my channel. Feel free to check them out for a detailed exploration.
Spelling Magic with All About Spelling Level 3:
Moving on to spelling, we’ve embraced All About Spelling Level 3. Aligned with our phonetic approach, this program reinforces spelling rules and word decoding. Utilizing sound, key, word, and rule cards, All About Spelling focuses on making spelling a decoding puzzle. Rather than traditional spelling tests, we opt for a relaxed approach, integrating spelling seamlessly into our language arts routine.
Note: While our spelling approach may differ from traditional methods, the emphasis on decoding and understanding the rules has proven effective for us. It is recommended to start All About Spelling Level 1 after completing All About Reading Level 1.
Exploring the Poodle Series by Michael Clay Thompson:
Now, let’s delve into the captivating world of the Poodle Series by Michael Clay Thompson. This series, designed as language arts for the gifted and talented, takes a unique narrative approach, introducing language arts concepts through storytelling. We’ve completed the first three books and are currently exploring the fourth.
1. Poodle Knows What: An enchanting exploration of the eight parts of speech, laying the foundation for understanding language structure.
2. Poodle in the Blue Mountain Monster: Delving into the parts of a sentence, this book guides learners in labeling and understanding sentence components.
3. Poodle Knows Poetry: Connecting language arts with the beauty of poetry, this book introduces poetic elements, enhancing writing skills.
4. Poodle in the Blue Desert Dunes: Unveiling the world of phrases, this book navigates through sentence analysis, emphasizing the importance of phrases.
5. Poodle and the Art of the Comma: The latest addition, this advanced book focuses on the proper usage of commas, a crucial skill for effective writing.
Exciting Update: The fifth book, “Poodle and the Art of the Comma,” has just been released, featuring a captivating narrative and stylish design.
