What We Spent London Family of 4

Booking and Logistics

We planned our trip meticulously, booking everything ahead of time to ensure a smooth experience. Traveling in January, during the off-season, allowed us to snag some fantastic deals. From flights to accommodation, we had everything sorted out.

Flight and Accommodation

We used our Southwest points for flights from Houston to Miami, then we booked Delta flights from Miami to Heathrow which cost us only $1780 round trip for all four of us. Our accommodation was at a value hotel chain, Premier Inn County Hall, right by the London Eye, offering convenience and comfort throughout our stay. With breakfast included for a small additional fee, we settled in nicely for our London adventure.

London Pass and Transportation

One of the best decisions we made was purchasing the London Pass. This attraction pass saved us a significant amount of money, allowing us to explore numerous attractions at a fraction of the cost. We also pre-booked transportation when possible to save, opting for mass transit to get around the city efficiently.

Budget Breakdown

Now, let’s dive into the numbers. While we initially budgeted around $6000 for the trip, we ended up spending a total of $6849.18. Various factors contributed to this, including unexpected expenses like souvenirs and food.

Unexpected Expenses

Souvenirs, food, and miscellaneous purchases added up during our trip. While we didn’t anticipate spending as much on food, we indulged in local delights and treats, enjoying every moment of our culinary adventures.

London Pass Savings

The London Pass proved to be a worthwhile investment, saving us over 100% on attraction costs. With careful planning, we maximized our pass usage, visiting numerous attractions and making the most of our time in London. I did the math and we spent $451 for our passes but managed to use over $997 in value!
