Meet Our Homeschooling Family

Before we dive into the details, let me introduce ourselves. I’m Shanna, and together with my husband and our two kids (a second grader and a sixth grader), we’ve been on this homeschooling journey for seven incredible years. We’re always on the lookout for innovative ways to make learning fun and engaging, and Painting to Gogh caught our attention for all the right reasons.

What is Painting to Gogh?

Painting to Gogh is like bringing the art studio experience right into your home. With a wide range of options to choose from, including bundles for kids and even date night sets, it’s perfect for artists of all ages and skill levels. But what sets it apart is the unique approach to art instruction – through engaging video lessons that make learning both interactive and enjoyable.

Exploring the Possibilities

When we first received our Painting to Gogh kit as part of our Timberdoodle Nonreligious 2023 Sixth-Grade Curriculum Kit, I was intrigued. The box was filled with potential, promising hours of creative exploration. As I unpacked the contents, I couldn’t help but feel excited about what lay ahead.

Setting Up for Success

With the table set and the art supplies at the ready, we embarked on our first painting session. The setup was straightforward, and with separate devices for each child, they could follow along at their own pace – a crucial aspect when homeschooling kids with a four-year age gap. I did pick up a few art supplies to allow us to use it with 2 kids, those extras can be found HERE.

Diving into the Creative Process

As the video lessons guided us through each step, I watched in amazement as my kids immersed themselves in their artwork. From mixing colors to applying brushstrokes, they embraced the freedom of expression that comes with painting. And with next to no assistance required from me, they felt a sense of independence and accomplishment.

The Verdict: A Resounding Success

After our first painting session, I can confidently say that Painting to Gogh has been a game-changer for us. Not only did it ignite a newfound passion for art in my kids, but it also provided a valuable opportunity for creative expression and skill development. The best part is, that other than set-up and clean-up, the kids can work independently.
