Why Timberdoodle?

We love Timberdoodle for many reasons. Their kits are engaging, hands-on, and offer a variety of learning tools that cater to different educational needs. They have both religious and non-religious options, which is perfect for our family. Timberdoodle focuses on increasing independence in learners and includes fun, interactive components that make learning enjoyable.

Customizing Our Kits

While Timberdoodle offers the convenience of one-button add-to-cart full kits, I prefer to customize almost every aspect of our kits to fit our specific needs. Customizing the kits is simple and ensures we get exactly what we want and need, leaving out the rest.

Here’s a step-by-step look at how I customize our Timberdoodle kits:

*For a visual, check out the video linked down below*

1. Start with Elite Kits: I begin by selecting the Elite kits because they offer the most comprehensive set of materials.
2. Adjust for Overlapping Materials: Since we’ve been using Timberdoodle for several years, we have overlap with materials from previous kits. This year, we’re officially at the stage where our first child’s materials overlap with our second’s.
3. Add and Remove Items: I carefully go through each subject and decide what to keep and what to replace. For example, I might replace certain math items with higher levels if we’ve already mastered the current ones.
4. Use the Scheduler and Handbook (or Not): Timberdoodle’s scheduler and handbook are amazing resources for planning and tracking, but I’ve decided to skip them this year since I customize so heavily and didn’t use them much last year.

Ordering Process

Here’s how the ordering process went for us:

1. Third Grade Kit: We started with the non-religious Elite third-grade kit, which begins at $1290. I went through and removed items we already own and added some new ones.
2. Seventh Grade Kit: For our seventh grader, the process was similar. I selected the Elite kit and customized it to our needs.

Final Thoughts

Ordering from Timberdoodle is incredibly easy, and their customer service is top-notch. They are always ready to help with any questions or adjustments you need. For example, I had a minor issue with a program level I ordered, and Timberdoodle’s customer service handled it quickly and efficiently, even over a weekend.

Conclusion

I hope you found this look into our Timberdoodle ordering process helpful and informative. Starting with Timberdoodle makes everything else in our curriculum planning easier. Stay tuned for our upcoming videos where we’ll be ordering additional materials and sharing how we track our budget and progress throughout the year.
