6th Grade Kit Recap | Timberdoodle Nonreligious Curriculum Kit 6th Grade 2023-2024

It’s curriculum kit review time, folks! Welcome back to Making Everyday Magic. I’m Shanna, and if you’re new here, we’re a homeschooling family of four embarking on our seventh year of homeschooling with a sixth grader and a second grader. Today, I’m excited to share my closing thoughts on our 2023-2024 nonreligious curriculum kit for sixth grade from Timberdoodle. Time for 6th Grade Kit Recap!

Before we dive in, don’t forget to subscribe to our monthly newsletter, and give this post a thumbs up. As always, feel free to connect with me in the comments or over on Instagram at @makingeverydaymagic. Now, let’s get into it!

I’m a huge fan of Timberdoodle curriculum kits. While they do offer religious options, I appreciate that they also provide nonreligious kits. Now, nonreligious doesn’t mean secular, but I’ve found that their kits offer a balanced mix that aligns well with our educational goals.

One of the standout features of Timberdoodle kits is their customization options. Starting with the elite kit, we can easily omit, swap, or adjust components to suit our needs. This flexibility has been invaluable, especially as we transition items from older children to younger ones.

The kits come with a detailed handbook and scheduler, which are great tools for planning and organization. While I admittedly haven’t been the best at tracking our progress this year, having these resources at hand has been helpful.

Let’s talk about the curriculum pieces themselves. One of our favorites has been the Math-U-See program. This year, we opted for pre-algebra, and it’s been a hit. The supplemental readers and graphic novels included in the kit have also been a hit, exposing my child to topics she might not have chosen herself.

We’ve had some gems in our kit that we haven’t even gotten around to yet, like the Turing Tumblers and the 3D White House puzzle. But I’ve learned not to stress about scheduling the fun stuffβ€”eventually, they always get their turn.

Art has been a standout component of our kit this year. The Painting-to-Gogh set was a pleasant surprise, providing hours of creative fun for my kids. Scratch cards and games like Tally Ho have also been big hits in our household.

While there have been many highlights, one area that didn’t quite hit the mark for us was the Discover Science curriculum. While it’s a solid textbook option, it didn’t quite align with our homeschooling style. However, I appreciate that Timberdoodle offers a diverse range of options to cater to different preferences.

Overall, I’m immensely grateful to Timberdoodle for curating such a rich array of educational materials. Their kits have introduced us to games, puzzles, and curriculum pieces that have enhanced our homeschooling journey in ways I never imagined.
